Long has Thredbo been reigned as one of the premier locations for downhill mountain bikers with its pristine tracks and easy chairlift ride to the top of the course. Now Jindabyne and the Alpine Way are closing the gap for cross country (XC) and all mountain bikers.
A brand new trail which currently is 14km long connecting Tyrolean Village all the way through jindabyne and on towards Snowline Caravan park and the turn off for Thredbo is nearing completion. The Tyrolean track can currently be ridden and you will see plenty of enthusiasts in the afternoons tearing up the trails.

Accommodation & Guided Tours
Australian Alpine Resorts can arrange accommodation to suit mountain bike tourists and if your after a taste of the best the Snowies mountain bike trails then why not include a guided tour from one of the locals. You can choose to bring your own bike or let them fit you with a specialised bike fit for adventure.
Thredbo Downhill Mountain Biking
Downhill Mountain biking is definitly one of the most adrenaline pumping activities on offer in the Snowies. As the snow melts and the sun is once again shining down on the Valley the bike fanatics come out to play and the ski runs are transformed in winding and exhilirating tracks whilst the chairlift runs throughout the day to take you straight back to the top. If downhill isnt for you then don't dispair Thredbo offers a wide range of tracks including a cross country trail and something for everyone. If your new to Thredbo downhill riding then you will need to complete an initiation to ride the chair and trails with your bike.

Thredbo Downhill Initiation Grade: Reasonable experience required Length: 4.2 kms Cost: $299.00pp includes chairlift ticket & instruction (dual suspension downhill bike & full protection equipment Time: Shop Hours 8.30am - 5.00pm. Chairlift Hours 9am to 4pm. Season: November 19th 2012 - May 2013 (track conditions permitting) General: Bring sturdy shoes, sunscreen, waterbottle and layered clothing. There is full guided instruction for the first three hours then free riding for the afternoon. Bike patrols circulate all day with spare parts and advice.
Thredbo Unlimited Downhill Session Grade: Experience required, must have completed Downhill Initiation Length: 4-6 kms downhill Cost: $75.00pp for first day (with own bike & equipment). Consecutive days at reduced rates Inclusions: Day ticket or consecutive day ticket Time: Shop Hours 8.30am - 5.00pm. Chairlift Hours 9am to 4pm. Season: November 19 2012 - May 20123 (track conditions permitting) General: Does not include bike hire or body armour hire. Hire bikes and equipment are available along with group clinic or private lesson packages. Full-face helmets are compulsory and body armour is highly recommended.
